ANXIETY UPDATE

I have recently seen a therapist again to get help with my life issues, I had mentioned before I have seen therapists but didn’t find one that fit with my personality, and felt they were of no help to me personally. In June I had an appointment meeting with a new therapist and it went way better than previous times. YEY! Don’t give up if one therapist didn’t help you, I learned my lesson after giving up for years that you need to explore different options until you find a good match.
Tracking back to previous posts I had discussed my anxiety and how I felt it was because of my depression, but after speaking with and research I have learned that it is the opposite. My anxiety is not under control and has been affecting my life negatively resulting is my other life issues I have mentioned in my “Circle Posts”. Everything that my therapist was like a light bulb going off above my head glowing brighter and brighter, each words out of his mouth was on point and would help me understand what I was going through. I never realized how much my anxiety controlled my life, I always thought it was sadness holding me back but in fact its fear of the unknown. That is my kryptonite fear of the un-known.
Speaking with someone who understands how anxiety works the ins and outs and how the brain thinks is such an amazing experience, I am someone who loves hearing how things work so that I can file that away in my brain and everything makes sense to me that way. I am looking forward to future appointments with my therapist to get a better hold on my anxiety. I am currently letting my anxiety control and live my life for me, this is not how I want to live life and I hope this is a great step into the right direction.
I will post more in the future on how my progress is going, and future understandings of my anxiety, from my appointments to help others.
I will be working on stepping out of my comfort zone and pushing through so that I get use to moving past my fears of the unknown and in hopes that by doing so on a regular basis I will eventually be comfortable with the unknown, wish me luck loves.
Below is some info on my anxiety disorder: being diagnosed was eye opening to read trough and realize YES…that is me! There is a reason for the way I function!
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and often irrational worry, that is, apprehensive expectation about events or activities. This excessive worry often interferes with daily functioning, as individuals with GAD typically anticipate disaster, and are overly concerned about everyday matters such as health issues, money, death, family problems, friendship problems, interpersonal relationship problems, or work difficulties. Individuals often exhibit a variety of physical symptoms, including fatigue, fidgeting, headaches, nausea, numbness in hands and feet, muscle tension, muscle aches, difficulty swallowing, bouts of breathing difficulty, difficulty concentrating, trembling, twitching, irritability, agitation, sweating, restlessness, insomnia, hot flashes, rashes, and inability to fully control the anxiety. These symptoms must be consistent and ongoing, persisting at least six months, for a formal diagnosis of GAD.

CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS IN SUMMER

Here in Alberta, summer has officially just started and yet I am focused on how much is left on my Christmas list. Yes I am one of “those” people; a Christmas Obsessed Looney Bird! That’s me!
Christmas is my favourite time of year and holiday it just warms my home with all of the twinkle lights and everyone’s festive spirit. We all bond knowing it’s the time of year we are reminded to show love to our family, friends and loved ones and spread cheer to everyone.
I decorate the first chance I get in November and don’t take the décor down until Jan 2ish. It’s always a said say when I have to take everything down and box it all up, my home feels so empty afterwards.
Enough chatter about how obsessed I am with the holiday and to get to the reason why I am writing this post.
I see so many people around the last few weeks/days of Christmas so stressed and hating the Holiday because they have a million gifts to buy, they are already beyond busy and it seems cash runs through their hand like water.
I am here to say it pays to be the early bird! I have two gifts left on my Christmas list and its summer still. I start in February by making a list of who Id like to buy for and create a note in my phone. I make it a habit to always have my ears open in Jan/Feb/March to what friends and family mention in conversation, I will quickly write it down in another note list on my phone under Gift Ideas. I try to think of things by brainstorming on rainy days by going on Pinterest or Etsy and searching what my family have pinned to be sneaky! I am very into finding the perfect gift that someone wouldn’t normally splurge on themselves or if it’s something simple or homemade that I know they would love.
I then start every month and take a small portion of my monthly free spending budget and pick a gift on my Christmas list and buy it and put it away and mark it down on my notes list on my phone so I don’t forget. I do this every month and by the fall I am done! I have not broken the bank or maxed out a credit card come November and December and avoided the hassle and stress of the holiday season!
When it comes to Christmas time, we all like to go out to the shops and experience the Christmas spirit of gifting and giving, so I will pick up a few nick knacks to add to some gifts so I don’t feel I am missing out since 90% of my shopping is already done.
I love thinking of Christmas gifts and as long as I don’t make it about money and make it about giving joy to the ones I love, I do it throughout the year thinking a little about Christmas all year long!
I hope my tips can bring you a festive fun and stress free Christmas Season this year!

MOMENTS VIA THE CAMERA ROLL

Happy Friday loves! I have been meaning to do one of these posts for awhile now, a few pictures via my I phone. Not the best quality but gives a glimpse into what I snap day to day.

Just arriving in Sylvan lake at sunset, to spend the weekend with a friend, this place is beautiful and I loved every minute of the trip, it had been 20 years since I was last there.

Drinks at Bravo in Sylvan, which is the nicest out door bar and patio with a view right across from the lake. Its a must if you are in town their and want to people watch with a view while eating some fab appys!

Sitting by the river in my home town and loving every minute of hearing the river flow with the tree shading me and my sister and friends next to me, great day!

GIFT GUIDE TIPS

I am a total girl when it comes to shopping, I love shopping and I love buying gifts for people even more!

I do 80% of my shopping online as I live in a rural town in northern Alberta and don’t always get to go shopping, so it’s easy to with a couple clicks of my fingers have what I need on its way to me, and if I price watch its easy on the wallet too!

I think many of us wait till the last minute when it comes to shopping for a loved one’s birthday, anniversary, special event etc. I like to mark on my calendar those events and mark it on my monthly budget list so I know I need to add them into my budget for the month and so I won’t have any unexpected costs jump out at me, then there is no stress of suddenly knowing I have a bunch of gifts to suddenly buy and them my wallet seems empty.

I believe gifts can cost nothing or up to anything that is within your own personal budget. I always want my gifts to be thoughtful, useful and things the person wouldn’t normally get themselves.

You can figure what kind of gifts to give my making a list of the persons interests, hobbies, likes and try and remember anything they have mentioned in passing, or check their Pinterest Board to see what they have been pinning lately. Sneaky Sneaky!!!

I have been given the name “Gandalf the Wizard of Gifts”, by my family because I have it down to a science I love it so much!

For kids: I put together a CRAFT BOX: for my niece; it contained scrap  paper, lace, glue sticks, safety scissors, glitter, tapes, clay, craft paper, material, pipe cleaners, string, beads, foam, felt, stickers, paint, jewels, markers, crayons, close pins, popsicle sticks, etc. I went to the dollar store and picked out all of the craft supplies, recovered a shoe box at home and customized her name with glitter on top and put everything in, this way on rainy days her and her mom had a go to box to craft with.

My older sister loves designer items, so I will stalk Hautelook or sales and get a killer designer item 70% off and she gets very excited to have the designer item and I get a kick out of knowing I didn’t pay designer prices! I have got her wallet, purse, sunglasses and more.

My younger sister loves my massive makeup collection, and I often let he go through it and try things, I will listen for the things she comments on and will write it down and buy it when I make my next orders over the year, then I will give her a beauty box of goodies I know she wouldn’t buy for herself! She loves it!

My mom has a low tolerance to perfume so I googled and researched reviews on a light Vanilla perfume,  sud pacifique vanille extreme is now her must have and was her favourite gift from me over the years, she loves that she can actually wear a perfume that doesn’t bother her.

I can go on and on….If you have any questions on how to pick a great gift please feel free to email me as I would love to help you!

G AND ME

I love reading these types of postings, the ones where everyone gushes about their other half and how it all became. Is it shameful to want to take part just so I can gush? Nahh….he deserves it…G that is.
He shall be named G until I feel comfortable using his full name, for now it will be G. Plus that rhymes with (me) BONUS!
I want to keep some privacy for now as he’s very shy and camera shy as well…so we will see if he ever makes his way onto the blog in more than text.
Me and G have been together 9 years this April, you would have to ask him when our first date was as it’s such a blur to me. Almost a decade! Crazy! We live together and are in a committed loving relationship.
A bit about G before I tell you all how we met; he is literally and I know this is so cheesy to say but he’s my other half. If you know me or him you would know it’s no lie or exaggeration.  He is shy, quiet, reserved, a bit of a hermit, timid when out being social, caring, giving, sweet, kind hearted, a total softy and push over when it comes to our nephew Jett. He takes forever to anger but when you do (watch out) LOL. He keeps many things inside and relies on me to pull those feelings out of him when necessary, so he can deal with them and move on. He has an amazing laugh and smile (makes my heart float when I can make him laugh). We are truly better together as we are so similar and really understand how sensitive the other one can be. We also bring different childhood backgrounds to the table that allows a lot of understanding and support to the relationship and insight into why we are the way we are, especially me. I am a bit of a wounded person currently working on many issues and he has never once wavered from everything our relationship has been through. I would say over half of it has been an uphill battle but we are starting to see the light and hope for easier years to come. I could go on and on about his qualities as a man but will stop here and leave more for future gushing.
Please know that every relationship has its set of problems and issues, as long as you treat each other with respect and put effort and love into your relationship and are willing to stick through tough times, it’s worth it. We are far from perfect as a couple and as people, however there is no other that can make me cry and smile (at the same time) with joy like him. Plus he’s dam handsome too. (That doesn’t hurt either)….nope not one bit. Plus he gets cuter with age….how does that work for men?!! NOT FAIR!

HOW WE MET: We met because of my best friend (J) and his best friend (T), who are now married and have the two cutest kids EVER! Like really ever! I die at how stinkin cute they are! They set us up or rather tried to get us together at the same party. I would end up going home, he wouldn’t come out it didn’t work out on timing for a while, then we met. I have no clue why as I was very shy usually, but I just came out and let him know I was interested. Talk about forward much, I’m a little embarrassed to admit it but it’s the truth.
We talked a few times, he was always working so I felt like maybe he didn’t want a relationship, but then we started hanging out and watching movies and going on dates, at my birthday party he asked me to be his girlfriend, I think I kissed him and said YES. I think?
I lived on my own in a few different apartments going to High School and working part time at a Hair Salon. When my Ex- boyfriend came back from Australia, G had asked if I wanted to still date him or go back to my Ex?. I couldn’t explain it but for the first time maybe because I was so young and never usually made wise choices, I decided to trust my instincts and said no to the Ex, I want to be with you (G) and only you. I didn’t know what drew me into G but there was just something telling me it would be amazing and he would never hurt me like I had been hurt before.  I wanted him and that was that. It’s weird to say I was more attracted to the connection I could feel between us at first, than his handsome face. A connection that hadn’t even fully developed yet, a connection I knew word form though. A connection that is now half of my soul.
He kept our relationship from his family for 6 months as he was so shy and hadn’t really brought girls home to meet his parents much before. I was so intimidated when I first met them, when I finally did meet them! However they are amazing people and I am very lucky to have them in my life.
He told me he loved me after a night of drinking at a family gathering. I said: “Thank You”. He still bugs me about that one, but I wasn’t ready and wanted it to mean something. I was beginning to understand what true love was and when I said it I wanted it to be 100% truthful, so a few months later I said: “I love you”. I can be just a tad stubborn, and do things when I’m good and ready.
After two ½ years we moved in together, it was weird living with a boy for the first few months but after we got use to each other and our likes and dislikes it was  and is fantastic.
It was hard to get used to having someone watch out for me, still is. I am fiercely independent but on the positive side having your best friend and other half as your partner watching out for you is a very powerful support system. He has brought me to this day, back writing and challenging my future. (thank you bubs) you think all of your actions are so small and inconsequential, however to me, he is my rock and my version of a saviour, what he has done for me I can never put into words to express how much it has meant to me.

We both have our two best friends to thank for getting us together and out of our hermit shells long enough to meet each other and move into a new hermit shell (together this time).
We vacation with our matchmakers and play cards with their kids at their kitchen table.
They are the craziest couple, and I truly am grateful to them.
This our story (Me & G) not much to tell, just a small town story of boy meets girl.

THE OVER SHARING CIRLCE POSTS; FIVE

Disclaimer: to put my mind at ease I wanted to add this disclaimer to all of my “over sharing circle posts”. There will be five in total in the series. These subjects will be detailed and personal and if you’re not comfortable with them, please avoid reading them, as I don’t want to offend anyone. I plan on writing about these subjects and touching on them many times in my future posts, but will be going into personal depth in this series and feel the disclaimer necessary. These subjects will all circle back and intertwine with each other, hence: “circle posts”.

POST FIVE: ENDING THE CIRCLE

I hope I haven’t rambled on to much in these posts. I also hope that you see why everything intertwines with each subject creating this circle. Now that everything is out in the open and can be read I want to move past it and talk about it in more of a positive light as I hope to move past these struggles and be in a batter place in my future. I will write posts about them as I feel I need.
Life is not simple or easy, but starting this blog I feel like I have a purpose and outlet to better help me with my issues. I want to write about these things as this is part of my life and where I am currently. In the future I hope to post on beauty, fashion, and more. I want to write how everything has improved and gotten better. I hope that if I choose to approach these subjects in the future any readers can look back and better understand everything.
May my over sharing provide some insight and help those who need it. I’m not sure if telling my story could or would help anyone, but it’s worth sharing. Maybe when I learn all my lessons I need to learn from going through these struggles I can provide advice to those that need it. Perhaps a future purpose? Who knows……
